A challenging assist with Leicestershire SAR

Its been a tough week for some members of NSAR.

On Wednesday the 10th November, we were contacted by LSAR to assist Leicestershire police in the search for a vulnerable missing person in the Melton Mowbray area of Leicestershire.

The RVP was up to 90 minutes away for some members, yet 8 members of NSAR made themselves available to assist in what turned out to be a challenging 3 day search. As you can see from the video below, some of the search area included quite dense woodland which took teams a long time to search thoroughly.

Over 32 hours of volunteer time were provided by NSAR members to assist this search. Unfortunately on the afternoon of the 12th November the body of the missing person was located and the search brought to an end.

Northamptonshire Search and Rescue would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Despite this being a sad ending, the reality is that this is a result that at times we have to deal with as part of the service we provide to the community. We are pleased to at least be able to bring closure to the family of the deceased and our sincere thanks go to all SAR and Police colleagues involved throughout the 3 day search.
